It was the day that shocked golf and baseball fans alike. A day that had golf fans quietly asking, "What's going on?" While baseball fans nervously texted friends "Do you see what I see?" It was also the day professional golfer Justin Thomas decided to parade around New York City in a head-to- toe Mets uniform leaving the sports community and media wondering why.
I decided to put on my amateur investigative hat and dig for the answer. Right away I discovered that Mets star Curtis Granderson was also wearing an unusual uniform the morning of May 23. What was it about that Tuesday? Based on some notes I've uncovered from that very morning, I concluded the following:
7:30 a.m. ET: A crew of less than 10 people begin setting up cameras and lighting – and eating copious amounts of breakfast pastries and coffee for a secret production at Citi Field.
8:45 a.m. ET: Two makeup artists arrive. If you think they were trying to cover something up, you're right – they were equipped to make Justin Thomas and Curtis Granderson look even more handsome. (Ok, maybe that wasn't the best evidence to report on, but I said that I was an amateur).
9.00 a.m. ET: Now it starts to get exciting. Justin Thomas enters Citi Field and eats breakfast. OMG, he's just like us. The golfer then proceeded to get beautified by the makeup artist – aw, he's just like some of us who have our own makeup artist.
9.15-10.15 a.m. ET: The crew began filming Justin for a friendly Citi promo. No one was hurt as he performed a few tricks with his golf club to entertain some of the crew. If you didn't already know, the guy has skills!
10:30 a.m. ET: Justin Thomas flies out of the dressing room in a New York Mets uniform. He really does have tricks.
10:45 a.m. ET: Curtis Granderson arrives sporting a polo shirt and khakis. Mind blown. There's definitely a wardrobe mix-up and I'm getting closer to solving this mystery.
11:00 a.m. ET: Arrival times for talent are not random. The bigger the star, the later they get to wake up, which is why Mr. Met brought up the rear – when he arrived, the party was on!
11:15 a.m. ET: Fast-forward fifteen minutes. The dance party ended and Curtis looked eager to show JT some real moves – but since those real moves included a golf club, they never happened.
11:30 a.m. ET: It's Justin's turn to show Curtis how to handle a bat, but that just caused bystanders to laugh, based on the evidence.
11:45 a.m. ET: Has anyone else noticed that Mr. Met never stops smiling?
Noon: The shoot wraps, but I'm still left with an open case. The only way to find out what's really happening between Justin Thomas and Curtis Granderson is to check out @Citibank and @NoKidHungry tomorrow to uncover the final chapter of this saga.
