Last month, Harry Styles made his debut as a solo artist on late night TV, but it was his live performance at the Citi Concert Series on TODAY where he officially proved his rock star status.
Styles effortlessly serenaded the huge crowd – and the huge crowd sang back.
It was the morning show concert series kick-off heard 'round the world – or at least heard throughout ten New York City fan-filled blocks surrounding Rockefeller Plaza. The former boy band member was, unsurprisingly, very popular with the screaming crowd as he belted out "Ever Since New York" before delighting fans with the never-before-heard track "Carolina."
No doubt the musician's undeniable talent mesmerized midtown, but it was his PINK SUIT that many are still recovering from. He played the guitar, crooned ballads, and dare I say "dabbled" in some pelvic thrusts – especially during the bluesy-yet-upbeat "Carolina." The performance left some crowd members gasping for air – myself included.
Even the TODAY hosts couldn't hold back from gushing over the singer's handsome style during a brief on-stage interview. Between songs, Styles fielded questions about the release of his self-titled album, music video, and clothing choices. Fans were then primed and ready for his smash hit "Sign of the Times."
Styles effortlessly serenaded the huge crowd – and the huge crowd sang back. They took instruction from him as he held the microphone into the audience and his hand to his ear, encouraging fans to scream even louder. Needless to say, they were more than happy to oblige. It was as if they had been fed by the handsome PINK SUIT-donning singer before the sun came up.
That's because they were. In an effort to thank those who had camped out all night (some for days!), Styles had pizzas delivered to devoted fans prior to his performance. The singer, whose debut solo album drops Friday, has been known to treat his supporters to food while they wait in line to see him.
He's talented, handsome and generous. Next, I'll tell you he can fly – because that's what he does in the newly released video for his hit song "Sign of the Times." The release marks Styles' first music video since his boy band days.
But the "firsts" for Styles don't stop at his solo music project. His first solo tour sold out just minutes after tickets went on sale. Plus, there's his acting debut that he revealed in a post-concert Facebook chat.
With the early buzz surrounding the artist, and lots of exciting new projects on the horizon, it certainly appears as if it hasn't taken Harry Styles very long to find his footing as a top solo artist. I'd say he's headed in the right direction.
By the way, did I mention Harry Styles performed in a PINK SUIT?!
