On October 2, Live Talks Los Angeles is proud to host Kate Atkinson for a very special conversation about her new novel,Transcription.

Kate Atkinson's first novel, Behind the Scenes at the Museum, won the Whitbread (now Costa) Book of the Year Award. She has been a critically acclaimed, bestselling author ever since, with over one million copies of her books in print in the United States. She is the author of a collection of short stories, Not the End of the World, and of the novels Life After Life, A God in Ruins, Human Croquet, Emotionally Weird, Case Histories, One Good Turn, When Will There Be Good News?, and Started Early, Took My Dog. Case Histories, which introduced her readers to Jackson Brodie, former police inspector turned private investigator, was made into a television series starring Jason Isaacs.

On December 3, Live Talks Los Angeles is proud to host Jon Meacham for a very special conversation about his book, The Soul of America: The Battle for Our Better Angels.

Meacham is a historian and author of the Pulitzer Prize-winning book American Lion: Andrew Jackson in the White House and the New York Times bestsellers Thomas Jefferson: The Art of Power, Franklin and Winston, and Destiny and Power: The American Odyssey of George Herbert Walker Bush. Meacham is also a visiting professor at Vanderbilt University, a contributing writer for The New York Times Book Review, and a fellow of the Society of American Historians.

In The Soul of America, Meacham helps us understand the present moment in American politics and life by looking back at critical times in our history when hope overcame division and fear.
